The 2019 Volnay Les Mitans 1er Cru went through malolactic on the skins during fermentation and is 100% whole cluster. It offers crunchy, tertiary red berry fruit on the nose; plenty of sous-bois here. The palate is medium-bodied with peppery black fruit, the whole stem component a little too prominent for me and rather defining this Loire-like Volnay on the finish.
