Note di degustazione
The flagship 2011 Barbaresco Riserva Camp Gros Martinenga is soft, supple and gracious, but much of that is the personality of the vintage. This is one of the most open-knit and easy to appreciate vintages of Camp Gros I can remember tasting. Beams of supporting tannin and salinity give the wine its distinctive personality. Scents of pine, menthol, rose petal and quinine give the wine its soaring, penetrating aromatics. Above all else, the 2011 is classy, subtle and polished. The 2011 spent 30 days on the skins and was aged in a combination of 60% barrique and 40% cask.

The 2011 Barbaresco Riserva Camp Gros Martinenga reflects the warmth of the vintage with dark fruit, blackberry preserves, tobacco, tilled earth, licorice and cured meat. The mouthfeel offers density and a large structural frame that is neatly occupied by more dark fruit flavors. This is an excellent medium-term wine that does not have the deep complexity of cooler vintages. It does have the power and the persistence.
Barbaresco. Just mid ruby with watery orange rim. Scented, earthy, cherry nose. Supple and ripe and perfumed and with a fine tannic structure. A really pretty wine. (WS)
