Note di degustazione
Semi-firm tannins with plenty of acidic zest on the palate and crunchy cherry fruit. More black fruit than red, it seems to me. Lots of density. It's certainly a good advert for Pinot's ageability. (RH)

Mingling notes of cherries and berries with spices, forest floor and creamy new oak, the 2019 Volnay 1er Cru Carelle Sous La Chapelle is medium to full-bodied, lively and enveloping, with powdery structuring tannins, bright acids and a lively finish. Charming and supple, this will offer a comparatively broad drinking window.
The 2019 Volnay En Carelle Sous La Chapelle 1er Cru is matured in 20% new oak and is completely de-stemmed. It offers darker fruit compared to the Volnay Village with raspberry, wild strawberry and cranberry. Hints of briary and sous-bois develope in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with a vibrant entry, veins of blood orange suffusing the bright red fruit with a slightly chalky textured finish. Very good tension throughout this Volnay that should give 15-20 years of drinking pleasure.
20% new oak. Clay (40%) and limestone (60%) and quite big rocks. Cask sample. Bright crimson. Pretty aromatic again. Very juicy and sweet with a little fresh spine and marked acidity. Firm finish. (JR)
