Light and fresh. Quite a chewy end. Blend of Marcarina, San Cristoforo, Fausoni and Currà. Very competent and spear-like (rather than cloud-like) in how the flavour impacts the palate, but without great depth. (JR)

The 2020 Barbaresco is gorgeous. Bright and focused, with terrific depth, the 2020 has a lot to recommend it. Red cherry fruit, blood orange, cinnamon and rose petal are all nicely lifted. This mid-weight, accessible Barbaresco is quite the charmer. All the elements are so well put together. Lively acids and pretty floral top notes extend the finish.
Neive. Concentrated mid ruby with orange tinges. Leafy nose with shy cherry fruit. Succulent cherry fruit with long, finely chiselled tannins. Great length and with proper concentration. Quite gorgeous for the vintage. (WS)
The 2020 Barbaresco is a terrific entry-level wine from Bruno Rocca, if that term can even be used here. The warm growing season yielded a Barbaresco with lovely forward fruit, silky tannins and tons of upfront appeal. It’s an ideal wine for restaurants or consumers looking for something delicious to drink with minimal cellaring. The 2020 spent 11 months in oak, quite a bit less than the 16-18 of the past, which preserves a good deal of freshness.
