Note di degustazione
The 2017 Volnay Les Mitans 1er Cru is entirely whole cluster bunches and 30% new oak. It has quite an expressive and open bouquet with kirsch, wild strawberry and orange blossom aromas. The palate is medium-bodied and fleshy in the mouth, quite caressing but with good depth, a mixture of red and black fruit towards the lightly spiced finish. Perhaps one of the earlier drinking Volnays. This is very well crafted.

This has a very fragrant edge, as well as swirling, spicy complexity. Sweet fruit here, in the red-cherry zone. The palate has fine and quite feminine style with a web of fine tannins, carrying strawberry fruit flavors. Long and bright. Drink or hold.
An elegant, pure and airy nose reflects notes of markedly floral red pinot fruit with background nuances of herbal tea and spice elements. The lacy, refined and lilting flavors dance across the palate though the balanced finish tightens up sufficiently to signal that even as graceful as it is, it's still going to require 10 to 12 years to arrive at its peak. Textbook Mitans.
