Note di degustazione
The 2015 Volnay 1er Cru Carelle Sous La Chapelle wafts from the glass with notes of ripe strawberries, plum preserve, licorice and raw cocoa. On the palate, it’s full-bodied, fine-grained and expansive, with good depth and amplitude, and a fine chassis of tannin that’s beginning to assert itself as the wine shuts down. While one senses the warmth of the vintage, this has the balance and structure to age.

(from 20-year-old vines; aged in 20% new oak): Dark, saturated red. Powerful but reticent aromas of blueberry, black cherry and menthol. Rich and tactile but refined on the palate, with flavors similar to the aromas, plus a slightly exotic chocolatey element. Very good material here, especially for relatively young vines.
The 2015 Volnay Carelle Sous la Chapelle is a rich, concentrated wine loaded with shades of dark red and purplish fruit. Exuberant and powerful in the glass, the 2015 is neither shy nor subtle, but rather offers tons of immediacy. This is an especially ripe, flamboyant Volnay. It will be interesting to see if Clerget seeks the same style with future vintages.
