Captivating aromas and flavors of lime, minerals, crushed stone and white flowers, lifted by a white pepper topnote. Dense, sweet and juicy, conveying a sappy impression of flavor intensity. Very rich wine in the style of the vintage but closed up dramatically in the glass, ultimately finishing very tight and firm. This will need several years of cellaring but should be splendid.

Cool, brooding aromas and flavors of apple, pear and crushed stone. A step up in intensity from the premier crus, with a penetrating spice character and firm minerality. Seriously structured and very long, finishing with a slight youthful bitterness. (The estate's Batard-Montrachet was still finishing its malolactic fermentation and its half-barrel of Montrachet was dense, sweet and long but in an oxidative phase and impossible to assess with accuracy.)
