Note di degustazione
Made from yields of 22 hectoliters/hectare, the outstanding Chevalier Montrachet boasts deep minerals and floral perfume notes on the nose. An appealing floral, red berry and minerally mouth combines with good length to make this medium-to-full-bodied wine a real success. Consume it over the next decade. This note is the result of tastings I did in Burgundy between January 7 and January 29. Ratings with a range of scores in parentheses indicate the wine was tasted from cask, not bottle. Jacques Montagnon's wines are impressive. They are made in a fat, sweet style reminiscent of Jean-Marc Boillot and Etienne Sauzet. What they lack in refinement and elegance they make up for in power and sweet fruit. Importer: Robert Kacher Selections, Washington, DC; tel (202) 832-9083.

Volnay’s Domaine de Montille is one of the most historic in the Côte d’Or. Founded in 1730, the property remains family-owned and run, with Etienne de Montille – the ninth generation – at the helm today.
