Mid lemon yellow. A powerful white fruit note, with some of the electricity of Pucelles, albeit with greater body. Knocks you back with its intensity. An excellent thread of acidity too. Will it have the personality of my very favourites? That may indeed develop, but we will have to wait a long time to find out.

The 2023 Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru is a surprisingly delicate wine. Airy and understated, Boillot’s 2023 Batard whispers more than it screams. Delicate floral notes meld into a core of orchard fruit. This is a very pretty wine, but I find it a bit atypical in its restraint for both Bâtard and the generally richer style that is such a signature at this address.(AG)

Based in Meursault and farming some of the finest vineyards in the Côte de Beaune, Henri Boillot is a leading address in Burgundy. He crafts fine Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, but the estate is best known for its flagship monopole vineyard, Puligny-Montrachet Premier Cru Clos de la Mouchère.
