This parcel sits just below the Hameau de Blagny, relatively high up, overlooking Puligny and Meursault. The soils are very poor, with just 10-15cm topsoil, so the site can struggle in hotter, drier years. There’s a restraint to the nose of this wine, with savoury mineral notes and yellow plum aromas. The palate reveals a brightness, however, with lithe peachy fruit and zesty drive, a soft silken texture, leaner than Champs Gains. The finish is firmly mineral, with more earthy chalk alongside the mouthwatering acidity. There are three barrels in 2024, none of which were new.

The 2024 Puligny Montrachet Chalumaux ler Cru has attractive "cool glade" scents reminiscent of Chablis, perhaps just a little aloof in the positive connotation of that word. The palate is fresh and saline, quite penetrating in terms of its acidity that lends plenty of tension and vitality. Perhaps not quite as persistent as Pernot's other Puligny cuvées but still a thoroughly enjoyable wine.

Mid lemon yellow. A little reductive note and a stony character to the bouquet, further up the hillside so much less of the late picked character than the Clos de la Jacquelotte. Some lemony notes at the finish, medium length.
