2019 Cascina Nuova Barbera d'Alba

Opening to a saturated color and dark appearance, the Mauro Veglio 2019 Barbera d'Alba Cascina Nuova shows ripe and plump fruit with dark plum and blackberry. Old vines from 55 to 60 years old provide the fruit. Those bold flavors (and 15% alcohol) would suit a simple a pairing of grilled or roasted meats, and the wine has the fresh acidity to cut through a side of buttered potatoes. Production is 6,500 bottles.
