Punteggio 91/100 · Da bere 2020-2030, Neal Martin, Jan 2020

The 2017 Chassagne-Montrachet Village is showing very well after bottling. It has a reassuringly complex, involving bouquet with scents of white flowers, honeysuckle and light menthol aromas that are, frankly, Premier Cru in quality. The palate is fresh on the entry with a fine bead of acidity and very pure and refined, showing good depth and freshness toward the long, saline finish. I think this is one of the few cuvées from Bachelet-Monnot that will surpass the 2018.

Crisp white fruit without the sulphidic complexity of their Santenay, but loads of leesy, mealy character on the palate. Very savoury and very dry to finish – cries out for food. (RH)

The 2017 Chassagne-Montrachet Village offers up notes of honeyed peach, orchard fruit, spices and white flowers. On the palate, it's medium-bodied, tangy and tight-knit, with appealing purity and a stony finish. This will likely flesh out with further élevage and land at the upper end of my bracketed score.
