Soft reduction doesn't completely mask the pretty green fruit and citrus peel-scented aromas. As one would reasonably expect there is more volume to the almost painfully intense middle weight flavors that possess excellent cut before terminating in a mineral-driven finish that deliver fine length if once again only moderately good depth though my predicted ranges assumes that more will develop with time in bottle.

The 2014 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru la Garenne was very taciturn on the nose when I tasted it at the domaine, perhaps having difficultly following the more flamboyant of the Chassagne-Montrachets. The palate is well balanced with lime and green apple on the entry, but it never quite builds upon its initial promise and seems just a little conservative, perhaps predictable on the finish. Let's see if it develops more personality by the time of bottling.

Estate wine (with St-Aubin Pucelles and Perrières) and 2013 was his first vintage - it belonged to his aunt and he used to know it when he worked at the family domaine. 85 years old. Late harvest. Rich and broad and generous on the nose. Thick and sweet. Super-charming already! 17/20 Points.

(aged in one new and one one-year-old 400-liter barrel): Pale yellow. Pure, classy aromas of white peach lifted by a floral topnote. Supple on entry, then quite firm in the middle, showing a touch of lemony bitterness. Comes across as clenched following the Baudines but not particularly oaky.
