Punteggio 90/100 · Da bere 2014-2020, Neal Martin, Wine Advocate, Feb 2014

The 2012 Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Clos Saint Jean sees slightly more new oak at 30% and that is nicely embroidered on the nose that reveals attractive buttercup, lime and hazelnut aromas. There is commendable vigor here – clean and fresh. The palate displays very fine tension and a sense of energy with a dash of spice enlivening the satisfying finish. This premier cru deserves a light applause. Drink now-2020. Established as long ago as 1903, Domaine Borgeot is located in the village of Remigny in the Cote de Beaune and is presently run by brothers Laurent and Pascal. Their 23 hectares are scattered around several appellations and they practice lutte raisonee in their vineyards, the grapes entirely de-stemmed and under cooling prior to fermentation in stainless steel vats. Importer: no known US importer but available through Liberty Wines in the UK.

Quite a rich start and very playful and beguiling on the palate. There is real class here. Density and juice and, although it is bone dry, there is masses of interest and complexity. Definitely the jewel in the white wine crown of this domaine. (JR)
