Talenti's 2001 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva Vigne del Paretaio is a deeply-colored, stylish wine. Made in a darker, riper style than the terrific normal bottling, it reveals perfumed aromatics along followed by layers of ripe fruit, tobacco, earthiness, smoke and toasted oak, with superb precision as well as clarity. Ideally a few years of cellaring are called for.

Dark crimson. Well balanced but rather sweet, then chewy. Very dramatic. It should please many. Very smooth with a bite on the end. Non-classic. (JR)
