The 2012 Barbaresco Rizzi shows some natural astringency and tightness that points to the relative youth of this wine (even now more than two years following its release). The wine is packed with dark fruit, licorice and spice. It shows a slightly nervous quality that will relax and unwind with a few more years in the bottle.

Treiso. Just mid ruby with the beginning of orange tinges. Stalky cherry nose. Full, sweet-fruit palate that is a little overwhelming, at least for the moment, and lots of powdery tannins, which have the last word. (WS)
