2013 Domaine Morey-Coffinet Puligny-Montrachet Pucelles 1er Cru

The 2013 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Pucelles comes from young vines planted in 1997 after Marc Morey pulled up the old ones (the parcel is shared with Domaine Marc Morey.) It is very closed, very strict on the nose – touches of green apple and flint reluctantly emerging. The palate is fresh on the entry with candied orange peel and a pinch of white pepper, moderate weight in the mouth with a long tail on the finish. It just needs another few months to get into its stride and express the terroir with greater clarity.
