Good deep med red. Red cherry, smoky herbs and truffley underbrush on the musky nose. A step up in intensity and lift from the Gattera, offering a silky texture and insidious intensity to its red fruit and earth flavors. Finishes fresh and long, with firm tannins and lovely subtle floral lift. This is excellent.

Commune of La Morra. Just mid ruby and a little lacklustre. Round, and more than a hint of dried fruit, but multilayered too. Big tannins match the concentrated fruit finish. (WS)
The 2009 Barolo Giachini is a knockout. Silky, perfumed and refined, the 2009 impresses for its textural finesse and superb sense of harmony. The balance of fruit, tannin and oak is terrific. Like so many 2009s, it's hard to see the Giachini making old bones, but it is absolutely delicious today. The sweet floral notes typical of this site come alive on the close.
