Lemon zest and menthol on the nose. Juicy and tight for young Morgeot, less rich and pliant than the Boudriotte. A powerful spine of citrussy acidity runs through the wine, which is youthfully spiky today. Finishes with a slightly tart lemony quality. A year ago I was confident that this wine had the flesh to support its backbone but today I wonder.

The 2010 Chassagne-Montrachet Morgeot is another dense, packed wine. The Morgeot is all about potential. The only question is how much time it needs in bottle to start showing its full pedigree. A huge, crescendo of fruit saturates the palate on the finish. This is one of the more overt wines in the lineup, but there is no shortage of personality.

A huge, crescendo of fruit saturates the palate on the finish. This is one of the more overt wines in the lineup, but there is no shortage of personality. Anticipated maturity: 2014+. Bruno Colin reported that in 2010 his yields were down 10-15%, but adds some of his oldest plots were hit even harder, and came in 25-30% lower than normal. Overall, this is a solid set of wines, with plenty of vintage and site-specific character. The Bourgogne, St. Aubin Le Charmois and Chassagne villages were bottled before the 2011 harvest, while the rest of the wines were bottled in March 2012. Pale color. White peach, lemon, grapefruit, wild herbs and flowers on the pure, subtle nose. The palate offers lovely penetrating citrus flavors with a a restrained sweetness. This has more stuffing to buffer its acidity than the foregoing samples. Finishes with noteworthy length and white flower perfume. Colin's parcel is 200 meters long and features three different types of soil.
