Note di degustazione
Arresting from the first nose, this shows intense orange blossom, mandarin peel, tobacco, roses, raspberries, black tea and salted cracker. Complex even at five years old, but will keep developing over next five years. From a 1.95ha vineyard set at 410m altitude, director Ricardo Telenti, Carlo Ferrini consulting winemaker.

Inky red in color, the 2020 Brunello Di Montalcino Piero is brooding and expressive on the nose with tarry aromas of charred rosemary, cedar, baked black cherries, and pine resin. Full-bodied, its oak spice is more pronounced on the palate, with a fleshy, rich texture, although it retains a good deal of purity in its ripe format and is quite impressive in its stature. While it's a bit extracted and oak-noted for my personal taste, it's a solid wine to enjoy over the coming 8-10 years.
In the bottle with the white label, the Talenti 2020 Brunello di Montalcino Piero also shows the tobacco-y or savory side that we saw in the classic Brunello, although the tonneaux-aged Piero gives you a little more concentration and richness on the finish. Baked black fruits are framed by spice, earth and brimstone. The Sangiovese tannins are soft and well integrated in this wine. 4,000 bottles were released.
Mid to deep ruby with orange tinges. Subtle spice-driven nose with hints of bell pepper and a brooding cherry. Tangy cherry fruit with a layer of sandy tannins that become a little dry on the finish. Perhaps just needs more age? (WS)
