2010 Chablis Les Sechets

The 2010 Chablis Sechets is all about intensity. In this vintage, the Sechets impresses for its persistence and multi-dimensional personality. The slightly angular contours typical of the wine are present, but there is so much fruit that they are barely perceptible. An attractive, spiced note adds complexity on the finish. I also tasted the 1993, which was flat-out stunning, with many fine years of drinking still left. I only wished I owned it.

Light, bright yellow. Ripe, slightly exotic aromas of lemon, marzipan, hazelnut, menthol and toast. Fat and broad but dry, with brisk mineral, ginger and quinine qualities emerging with air. Sweeter and more generous than the village wine. and ultimately longer and more energetic on the aftertaste. This will need time to harmonize.

The 2010 Chablis Sechet is positively explosive. It bursts onto the palate with exuberant fruit and a voluptuous, sexy personality. There is plenty of richness and concentration in the glass as the wine builds towards a creamy, expansive finish. This looks to be one of the more accessible 2010s here. The soil in Sechet yields a style of Chablis that emphasizes fruit.
