The Figli Luigi Oddero 2018 Barolo Rocche Rivera shows pinpoint focus and linearity with red berry aromas, lead pencil, blue flower and camphor ash. This precise, directional approach gives the wine increased length and a very clean delivery to the palate. The wine should drink beautifully well beyond the 20-year mark.

Castiglione Falletto. The grapes come from the Rocche Rivera plot in the Scarrone cru, which is a continuation of the Rocche di Castiglione cru with Luigi Oddero's full-south-facing plot one of the best sites. Lustrous mid ruby. Perfumed, concentrated and focused cherry nose of great appeal with hints of iron and orange blossom. Great minerality underneath. Slow to open up and really intriguing. Compact, precise and transparent. Gorgeous, finely grained, layered tasty tannins paving the way for the elegant fruit. Real pedigree and elegance. (WS)
