Sourced from four parcels within the cru of Rabaja, the 2017 Barbaresco was aged for 18 months in large Slavonian oak prior to bottle aging. Its high-toned floral aromatics give way to cranberry, clove, and orange zest. The palate is fresh, medium-bodied, and inviting, with pomegranate, peach, and dried tea leaf. Fine grained with an approachable structure, the 2017 is prime for drinking over the next ten to fifteen years. Drink 2021-2032.

The Giuseppe Cortese 2017 Barbaresco is a pure and direct expression of Nebbiolo with a delicate approach. Wild berry, violet and crushed stone mark the bouquet. The wine shows tight tannins and a silky feel that gives it an approachable, near-term disposition. You can pair this wine with egg noodles and truffle oil. It ages in large oak cask for 18 months and was bottled in July 2019. Production is 10,000 bottles.
The 2017 Barbaresco is a new wine in the range and is made mostly from young vines in Rabajà and an older parcel in Trifolera. Floral, lifted and gracious, the 2017 is lovely. I would prefer to drink it sooner rather than later given its mid-weight structure. Hints of cedar, dried cherry, spice and crushed flowers linger on the delicate finish that offers good freshness for the year.
