Wafting from the glass with aromas of pear, green apples, white flowers, nutmeg and melon, the 2023 Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru La Grand Montagne is medium to full-bodied, satiny and enveloping, with a cool core of fruit, lively acids and an ample, suave profile.

Cask sample. Mid lemon. Light, lofty citrus and pear fruit, with a distinct flinty note. Overall, quite joyous, with some volume on the finish, which is saline and sapid. (MH)
The 2023 Chassagne-Montrachet La Grande Montagne 1er Cru has a light and fresh nose of sea cave and light citrus fruit; it is understated compared to the bravura 2022 this time last year. The palate is very elegant and poised, maybe the most detailed of Thierry Pillot's Chassagnes, with a finish that fans out beautifully. This really translates its terroir, and overall it will match the previous vintage. It's that good.
