The 2021 Chassagne-Montrachet Blanchot-Dessus 1er Cru has a very potent reduction on the nose that subjugates the fruit profile or terroir. The palate is inevitably reduced as well, which is a pity because it has a killer line of acidity and there is complexity somewhere under that reductive veil. To sum it up in a word... frustrating. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting.

The Bachelet brothers produced two barrels of the brilliant 2021 Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Blanchot-Dessus, a deep, serious wine redolent of mandarin oil, crisp stone fruit and pear mingled with beeswax, white flowers and toasted nuts. Full-bodied, satiny and seamless, it's concentrated and structured, concluding with a long, resonant finish.
The 2021 Chassagne-Montrachet Blanchot-Dessus 1er Cru has some reduction on the nose, opening with yellow plum, ginger, quince and crushed stone scents. The palate follows through with quite a powerful entry, struck flint and orange rind, fine depth though it doesn't quite convey very long length on the finish. That said, it will drink well for a decade or more.
