Barolo. Youthful mid ruby. A brooding red-fruit nose with hints of black tea leaves. Sappy cranberry and red-fruit palate with real tannic bite. Great length and focus. (WS)

The Poderi Luigi Einaudi 2020 Barolo Terlo Vigna Costa Grimaldi has a floral note of sweet lady's perfume, raspberry macaron and flowering geranium all followed by a metallic or flinty end note. The wine offers medium-bodied texture and strong tannins that border on astringent. Only 6,426 bottles were made.
The 2020 Barolo Terlo Vigna Costa Grimaldi marries fruit depth and structure. It is the most classically austere of these wines in feel, even if it saw a bit more new oak than the other Barolos. Dark blue fruit, spice, leather, licorice, gravel and menthol build in an explosive, deep Barolo that will require some cellaring. Aging took place half in tonneaux and half in cask.
Barolo. Lustrous and just mid ruby. Balsamic and lifted but still a little backward on the nose. Opens up fantastically on the palate with eucalyptus and minerally notes and hints of black pepper. Succulent and precisely balanced. Lots of raspberry and lively cherry fruit. Great concentration yet composed with gorgeous tactile chewy tannins framing the whole. (WS)
