Note di degustazione
The 2011 Barolo la Villa shows less ripeness than you might expect for this hot vintage. The nose opens to black fruit and spice with medicinal or balsam herb at the back. These qualities help to add freshness and buoyancy to the wine's aromatic intensity. The mouthfeel is streamlined and tight. This wine ages in both barrique and botte grande. Some 5,000 bottles were produced.

Dark cherries, plums, mocha, spices, new leather and cedar are some of the many notes that flesh out in the flagship 2011 Barolo La Villa. Here the flavor profile is deeper and darker than in the straight bottling, while the fruit is a bit roasted, yet all the elements are nicely put together. Above all else, the 2011 offers a lovely sense of immediacy.
Monforte d’Alba. Deep ruby with orange tinges. Hints of fruit cake and herb liqueur. Supple palate with dark, liqueur-like fruit. A tiny bit medicinal and with rather dry tannins on the finish. (WS)
A delicious wine already with walnut, chocolate, berry and hazelnut character. Full body, with soft tannins and a fresh finish. Drink or hold.
