The 2015 Barolo Cerequio is dark, sensual and inviting. Black cherry, mocha, spice, leather and licorice all take shape in a Barolo that shows the more virile side of this La Morra cru. The 2016 is very nicely balanced, although I admit that I would like to see a bit more finesse and site character.

The fruit in the 2015 Barolo Cerequio is darker than in the Cannubi, and there is more spice, cured tobacco and dried blackberry. You'll find a lot more muscle and power here, too: This is a good Barolo for braised beef. There is great structure and a heavier flavor footprint on the palate, along with more grit in the mouth and a tannic bite. This wine was not produced in the difficult 2014vintage.
La Morra. Tasted blind. Deep ruby. Lifted, balsamic and sweet-sour on the nose with a hints of tobacco and gingerbread. Round fruit palate that is concentrated and supple with powdery tannins. Not too challenging or backward. Something for restaurants as it can age further, but can also be approached now. (WS)
Very attractive combination of dark-berry, light toasted-oak, tree-bark and rose-petal aromas now. Full-bodied, dense and powerful with super richness and freshness at the same time. Try in 2022.
