(Outstanding)<br /> Smoky aromas feature those of tangerine peel, lemon-lime, passion fruit, cool apple and attractive spice nuances. There is impressive density to the focused and intense middle weight flavors that flash plenty of minerality on the sleek, detailed and similar youthfully austere finale. This is a bit different from how the Colin-Morey Baudines usually shows in that the 2019 version is notably bigger though at the expense of not quite the same finesse. Either way, it's impressive.

Exhibiting aromas of crisp yellow orchard fruit, buttery pastry, white flowers and toasted almonds, the 2019 Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Baudines is medium to full-bodied, satiny and incisive, with an elegantly textural attack that segues into an ample and enveloping core, underpinned by tangy acids. This is another success.
Very high, next to the forest. Ripens about a week later than Les Chenevottes. ‘The Morgeot of altitude – power and finesse.’ Almost like a St-Aubin. ‘If you pick it too early it can be a bit skinny.’ He has started to pick it a bit later. Pierre-Yves says it needs hot years – like 2019? Barrel sample. Savoury nose and more restrained than Chenevottes on the nose. Still lots of rather aggressive acidity. Needs quite a bit of time. (JR)
