Note di degustazione
The Giulia Negri 2015 Barolo La Tartufaia is a full and generous expression of Nebbiolo with round and ripe flavors of wild berry, redcurrant, spice, tar, rose and potting soil. This wine presents an easy and accessible approach with nicely integrated tannins and enough acidity to keep the palate refreshed. Maybe it is the power of suggestion, but I also get a hint of black truffle in La Tartufaia. Some 13,300 bottles were produced.

Vineyard on calcareous clay in the Serradenari cru. 45 days on the skins and aged for 24 months in large oak casks of 25 hl from Swiss cooper Suppinger, Italian Garbellotto and Austrian Schneckenleitner. ‘I wanted Stockinger but there is too much demand and I would never get my hands on it. Then I thought: “why not work with a ‘relative’ newcomer? I'll probably get great quality”.’ Spicy cherry with an iron streak on the nose. Tightly built tannins framing ripe fruit. Long and already approachable, but with good potential too. (WS)
