Note di degustazione
According to winemaker Thierry Pillot, his 2021 Chassagne-Montrachet Champ Gain 1er Cru is prone to frost-damage, so he pre-emptively lit wax burners that spared half his vines from being "burnt". The wine itself has a marine influence, oyster shell-tinged bouquet that opens beautifully in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with a tangy, slightly waxy opening and fine weight with a persistent, pithy finish. Another impressive Chassagne.

Notes of crisp stone fruits, bread dough, smoke and nutmeg preface Pillot's 2021 Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Champs Gain, a medium to full-bodied, taut and racy wine that's concentrated and elegantly textural, with a bright spine of acidity and a long, chalky finish, qualities not always to be taken for granted in this climat.
