The 2021 Chevalier-Montrachet Grand Cru has a glorious, expressive and intense nose with crushed limestone, petrichor and citrus aromas that burst from the glass with razor-sharp delineation. The palate is fresh and vibrant on the entry, perhaps more lime-driven than I would have liked, especially after the arresting aromatics. Fine weight and length with some reduction, though quite peppery and persistent. It just loses a bit of composure in the final furlongs. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting.

The 2021 Chevalier-Montrachet Grand Cru comprises of just one barrel this year. It has a perfumed nose: orange and apple blossom, broom and fern aromas, quite complex and showing the most intensity. The palate is well balanced with fine acidity, good tension with a persistent finish. Not as complex as the best Chevalier-Montrachets that I have tasted from this address, but it has a very promising future.
