Anise, minerals, butter, and toast can be found in the nose of Leflaive's 2000 Montrachet. An intense wine, it is medium-bodied, juicy, crammed with French toast, mineral, and acacia blossom flavors. It is highly expressive, concentrated, and profound. Projected maturity: 2003-2014. Importer: Wilson-Daniels, St. Helena, CA; tel. (707) 963-9661
Yellow plum, roasted nuts, coconut, iodine and fresh herbs on the nose. Silky and thick on entry, then powerful and a bit youthfully disjointed in the middle palate; very rich but currently a bit aggressive and uncompromisingly dry, due to its strong lemony acidity and powerful oak spice component. A chewy, sappy, solid wine whose sheer density hides its 13.8% alcohol.
