The 2021 Chassagne-Montrachet Morgeots 1er Cru has a very "lemony" nose: lemon verbena and lemon meringue, with light honeysuckle and freshly baked popcorn aromas loitering in the background. Fine delineation. The palate is well balanced with impressive weight on the entry. I would have liked slightly sharper acidity to impart more tension and nervosité , though it delivers length and depth. Maybe picked just a day or two tardy? Afford it another 12 months in bottle. Notes of pear, orange zest, white flowers and anise introduce the 2021 Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Morgeot, a medium to full-bodied, ample and satiny palate that's lively but a touch marked by the frosts this year.
This year, the 2021 Chassagne-Montrachet Morgeots 1er Cru comes only from the vineyard Les Fairendes. It has an attractive bouquet with citrus peel, popcorn, almond and light walnut scents. The palate is well balanced with crisp acidity, quite linear and Puligny-like, with a touch of spice towards the persistent finish. Good potential, quite complex.
