The 2020 Chassagne-Montrachet Morgeot 1er Cru is perfumed on the nose, mainly yellow fruit mixed with light spearmint, fennel, crushed stone and egg white hints. Fine delineation and the oak is used well here. The palate is well-balanced with a fine bead of acidity. Maybe not quite as nuanced as the finest Chassagnes in the flight, though it builds with confidence in the mouth, quite spicy and peppery towards the finish. Very fine. Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting.

From lieu-dit Les Fairendes, the 2020 Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Morgeot (Rouge) exhibits aromas of cherries, sweet berries, dark chocolate, spices and loamy soil. Medium to full-bodied, velvety and layered, with rich, powdery tannins underpinning its ample core of fruit, it has turned out nicely.
The 2020 Chassagne-Montrachet Morgeots 1er Cru is well-defined on the nose, crushed stone filtering through the yellow flower scents. The palate is well balanced with a crisp opening, very citric and zest with orange rind and a touch of squeezed lemon juice on the finish. I can imagine this matching a plate of oysters with style.
