The 2011 Barolo Bricco Ambrogio is showing very nicely. The vintage warmth has added to the plushness, richness and darkness of the wine. In terms of aromas, the bouquet veers towards balsam notes with grilled rosemary and medicinal herb that make bright, fleeting appearances. But it also reveals generous tones of dark blackberry fruit. The wine reaches a good place of balance and never feels over the top.

Roddi. Deep ruby with orange glow. A little weedy and herbal with a hint of shoe polish. Balsamic and minty fruit palate that slowly opens up on the finish. Curious, but not without interest. A little drying on the finish. (WS)
Palish ruby with orange tinges. Sweet, youthful Nebbiolo nose with hints of dried fruit and vanilla. Juicy fruit and then the tight grip of firm tannins on the finish. Really tactile and animating and long. (WS)
