Note di degustazione
Mid to deep crimson. Almost something bitter, and certainly very lively, on the nose and then the most marvellous panoply of ripe red fruit on the palate. The fruit is so rich you hardly notice the tannins (which are certainly there). Great balance and charm – so much that it is difficult to resist even at this early stage. And quintessential Volnay character. The relative bargain in this collection? (JR)

A blend of equal parts Pitures and Mitans, d'Angerville's 2020 Volnay 1er Cru bursts with aromas of cherries, raspberries and plums mingled with rose petals and spices. Medium to full-bodied, velvety and precise, with lively acids and a long, elegantly chalky finish, it will offer a broad drinking window.
The 2020 Volnay 1er Cru is a ususal blend of Mitans and Les Pitures. It has quite a precocious bouquet with kirsch, red cherries and blood orange that conveys a sense of playfulness. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy red fruit, fine acidity, a little Pommard-like in terms of structure towards the finish, though it does not possess the sustain of the Premier Crus on the aftertaste. Still, this will age well in bottle.
