Notably pale rust red. Slightly sweaty nose. Some lightweight meatiness on the palate with real balance. Very smooth and cleverly tailored. A good introduction to the DOCG? Though perhaps not what long-term aficionados would seek. (JR)

The 2014 Barbaresco Bric Turot is fleshy and super-expressive, with notable depth and nicely delineated flavors. Understated and classy, the Bric Turot is also one of the best wines I have tasted from Prunotto in some time. Sweet red cherry, Christmas spices and hints of rose petal add the closing shades of nuance.

The 2014 Barbaresco Bric Turot shows a good quality of fruit and enticing aromatic intensity that takes a little while to come into focus. The bouquet opens slowly, but it eventually evolves to include wild berry, licorice and toasted anise seed. This mid-weight interpretation of Nebbiolo offers a silky texture that wraps smoothly over the palate. It is void of any rough or sharp points. The finish is lean and thin. This was a difficult vintage and the wine could flesh out a bit further with a few more years in the bottle. Then again, maybe it won't.

Tasted blind. Montaribaldi in Barbaresco. Maturing mid ruby with bricky watery rim. Stalky, a little reductive on the nose and sour. Dry and sour palate with brooding concentration underneath. Very old school and with austere cherry fruit on the finish, but I am confident this will improve with age. (WS)
