Punteggio 86-88/100 · Stephen Tanzer, Vinous, Jan 2016

(completely destemmed; aged in 20% new oak):Medium bright red. Reticent nose hints at red fruits and flowers. Tightly wound and peppery, showing leather and saline qualities and a strong acid spine. The fruit is a bit dry-edged but the tannins are nicely managed. Half of the crop was lost to hail.

Punteggio 89-91/100 · Da bere 2017-2029, Neal Martin, Wine Advocate, Dec 2015

The 2014 Beaune 1er Cru les Sizies was hailed on and 40% of the crop was lost, necessitating rigorous sorting on a table de trie. It has fine volume and purity on the nose of red cherries, wild strawberry and wilted rose petals not holding back. There is nice definition here. The palate is crisp and fresh on the entry with a keen line of acidity. It remains taut and linear, fresh and saline in the mouth, with just a touch of reduction on the finish that will blow off with bottle age. Very fine.
