Note di degustazione
Firm reduction overshadows the underlying fruit though there is impressive, indeed almost painful, intensity suffusing the dense, powerful and quite serious medium weight plus flavors that culminate in an overtly lemony, compact, stony and wonderfully long finale. This is very much built-to-age and borderline old school in style, though this is not to say rustic. Patience strongly advised. (Drink starting 2033)

Over the last five years, as these high density plantings (which date to 2014) mature, this cuvée has made the most progress of any wine in the range, and the 2022 Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Chaumées only confirms that. Unwinding in the glass with notes of pear, sweet citrus oil, toasted hazelnuts, white flowers and iodine, it's medium to full-bodied, deep and textural, with a cool core of fruit, racy acids and a long, mineral finish.
The 2022 Chassagne-Montrachet Les Chaumées 1er Cru offers lilting green apples, Conference pear and citrus peel on the nose. It's quite minerally but not quite as compelling as Lamy's Saint-Aubins. The palate is well balanced, taut, linear and quite sapid, with a fresh entry but without that knockout blow on the finish. Fine.
