Note di degustazione
The Merlot was such good quality in 2023 that it represents more of the blend than normal this year. Floral aromas waft from the glass – with bright crunchy fruit dancing alongside iris and lily-of-the-valley. On the palate, there’s great purity to the fruit – juicy, with tart acidity and a long, lively finish. 13.7% alcohol. Blend: 55.8% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40.2% Merlot, 4% Petit Verdot

Smoke, herbs, forest leaves, cedar, mint, cigar wrapper currants, and blackberries permeate the nose. Vibrant, elegant, clean and fresh, the juicy fruits lean towards the sweet, bright, red with black currant side of the style range, with touches of pepper, blackberries, and marine influences that show up at the backend of the finish. This should drink well early, yet provide pleasure for at least 2 or more decades. The wine was produced from blending 55.8% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40.2% Merlot, and 4% Petit Verdot. 13.7% ABV. Drink from 2028-2050.
Based on 55.8% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40.2% Merlot, and 4% Petit Verdot and aged 18 months in 60% new French oak, the 2023 Les Forts De Latour brings another level of class and elegance while still being concentrated and powerful. Black cherries, currants, graphite, cedar pencil, and classic Latour minerality all show on the nose, and it's medium to full-bodied, with a focused, compact, nicely structured mouthfeel, ripe tannins, and integrated acidity. Hide bottles for 5-7 years to allow it to show its full potential, and it will keep for 20-30 years. Drink 2030-2055.
The 2023 Les Forts de Latour is stellar. Dark and explosive, the Forts de Latour possesses superb textural richness and pure power to match. Black fruit, gravel, incense, lavender and mocha all race across the palate. Huge swaths of tannin wrap it all together. This is a superb Forts de Latour.
