Youthful ruby in color, the 2020 Barolo offers an attractive and ripe nose of baked strawberries, licorice, and leather. Medium-bodied, it’s straightforward, with a hint of gamey earth and a modest finish. It’s in a good place for near-term drinking.

The 2020 Barolo is a rustic, old-school wine. Bright acids and tannins dominate, while the fruit is pushed into the background. It would be nice to see more freshness and greater focus, especially in the aromatics. This is pretty hard to taste today.
