Currently on the market, the Gaja 2022 Langhe Gaia & Rey is a very expressive interpretation of Chardonnay, with extra aromatic intensity in this hot and dry vintage. The bouquet opens to Sicilian orange blossom, sweet almond and peach. There is a pretty mineral note and some spice too, but the citrusy note is what stands out most at the moment. The wine is 100% oak aged, but there has been a recent move to larger oak vessels used in combination with barrique. This pretty white finishes with an elegantly creamy texture.

The 2022 Gaia & Rey is another terrific white from Gaja in this challenging but surprising vintage. Lemon confit, white flowers, mint and a kiss of French oak all grace this creamy, beautifully textured Chardonnay. Impressive.
