La Morra. Pale ruby. Wet-stones nose with hints of garden herbs and slow, very ripe strawberry fruit. Supple and elegant, but really builds up on the finish with long, aromatic fruit and lots of delicious, chewy tannins. Could do with more bottle age. (WS)

The 2020 Barolo La Serra Docg pours a ripe ruby hue and takes on a warmer feel, revealing notes of porcini, preserved cherries, dried roses, and dusty soil. Medium-bodied, it is very nice on the palate, with ripe, fine tannins, even acidity, and a clean finish. Its structure builds after the wine is gone, and it will do well to see at least another 6 12 months in bottle.
Deceptively understated, the 2020 Barolo La Serra is a nuanced wine that beautifully captures the essence of this site. Crushed flowers, mint, white pepper, sage and rose petal lend aromatic brilliance to a Barolo that impresses with its sculpted, chiseled personality. A whole range of floral and savory overtones reappears on the finish, adding brightness and lift.
