The 2023 Chassagne-Montrachet Village comes from young to 55-year-old vines on nine different parcels. This aged in 20% new oak. It has a composed and focused bouquet with fine mineralité , hints of lemon curd and peach skin. The palate is very well balanced, with impressive weight countered by a keen line of acidity. It's waxy in texture with plenty of extract on the finish. This is worth seeking out—it is a great value.

Once again the nose is ripe and fresh though with a completely different aromatic profile of petrol, rosemary oil, pear and a floral top note. There is notably better volume and evident power on the solidly concentrated medium-bodied flavors that possess a seductive texture before concluding in an impressively long and well-balanced finale. A blend of eight parcels, the 2022 Chassagne-Montrachet Village is raised in 25% new oak. Lime and melon on the nose that has impressive vigor; this feels primal but is certainly well-defined. The palate is taut on the entry with good extract, quite a leesy Chassagne with an underlying mineralité on the finish. Worth seeking out.(NM)
