Note di degustazione
Deep and powerful, the 2018 Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Grandes Ruchottes offers up a deep bouquet that mingles aromas of pear and tangerine with nuances of warm bread, iodine and dried white flowers. Medium to full-bodied, muscular and concentrated, this is also quite introverted and structured, with lively acids and a long, saline finish.

Planted in 1939, the oldest vines of the domaine. Had to pull out two-thirds of the vines after the 2016 frost. The rootstock was feeble and it was a good time to uproot when there was no fruit. Replanted 2019. This is made from the last third of the old vines. Three barrels in 2018. Tank sample, still on lees. Mandarin and apricot and so creamy on the nose. Intense, concentrated in an effortless old-vine way with a spine of citrus freshness and impressive length even with the ripeness of fruit. Powerful but not arrogant, deep, wise. Persistent, intense but so fresh. (JH)
