Punteggio 94/100 · Da bere 2022-2035, Neal Martin, Mar 2023

The 2015 Chassagne-Montrachet Les Grandes Ruchottes 1er Cru is beginning to fire on all cylinders. It has a gorgeous nose that retains its dried honey and tropical tones but has gained more precision in recent years. The palate is suave and sophisticated, with beautifully integrated oak, less saline than before yet so pure and mineral-driven on the finish. This is what great Chassagne-Montrachet is all about. Tasted at Bistro Cocotte in Beaune.

The 2015 Chassagne-Montrachet Les Grandes Ruchottes 1er Cru has a conservative bouquet, with light resin scents permeating the light dried honey and tropical tones, but lacks the precision of the best Chassagnes this vintage. The palate is actually more attractive than the aromatics: well balanced with a fine thread of acidity, quite saline in the mouth, and revealing a touch of salinity on the finish that lingers long after the wine has departed. Good potential, though I would leave this a couple of years before broaching. Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting.

The 2015 Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Grandes Ruchottes is one of the white wines of the vintage, wafting from the glass with notes of oatmeal, preserved citrus, crisp orchard fruit, peach and brioche. On the palate, the wine is wonderfully layered and glossily textural, its purity, energy and elegance as impressive as its immense concentration and power. This profound Grandes Ruchottes—which hails from old vines planted in 1939—boasts grand cru depth and dimension and should be very long-lived.
