The 2010 Chevalier-Montrachet is rich, deep and powerful. Today the Chevalier is quite young and primary, with little in the way of aromatic and flavor development. Over time, though, sweet, honeyed notes begin to emerge as the wine gains volume and breadth in the glass. This is another striking wine from Michel Colin. It will be interesting to see where this goes over the next few years.

It will be interesting to see where this goes over the next few years. Anticipated maturity: 2012+. Michel Colin is mostly retired, but has had held onto three parcels, mostly for sentimental reasons, he says. Colin’s sons help out with these three wines, all of which are terrific in 2010. More obvious smokiness on the nose than on the Demoiselles. Very tight but a little more formulaic than the Demoiselles. Good lift and density but the lemon and oak are a teensy bit obvious. (JR)
