2022 Batard Montrachet

Note di degustazione
From a 0.35-hectare plot acquired in 2008, this is a really impressive wine in 2022. Winemaker Jérôme Flous is clear that it’s an exceptional vintage for whites – his best to date. The nose is savoury – waxy, chalky and creamy – followed by a palate of extraordinary density and fullness. It is almost fat, but a pithy bite of acidity brings tension. Intense, round and layered, this needs a few years in bottle for everything to integrate and its full complexity to be revealed. The finish is long and fresh with a bright, sherbet tang that leaves your mouth watering.

Deep and muscular, the 2022 Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru reveals notes of pear, sweet stone fruit, fresh mint, buttered toast and hazelnuts, followed by a full-bodied, rich and layered palate that's deep and concentrated, its sweet core of fruit girdled by lively acids.
Cask sample. Creamy fruit and density – without fat. Green-fruit flavours but still very embryonic. Very persistent and promising but not to be drunk for some time, ideally. (JR)
