The 2013 Barbaresco Fausoni is just as impressive today as it was a year ago. White pepper, orange peel, red cherry and chalk give the wine its high-toned aromatics, while the firm, biting tannins give the wine its shape and overall feel. This is a brilliant Fausoni and the most perfumed of Sottimano's 2013 Barbarescos.

A dazzling wine of pure finesse, the 2013 Barbaresco Fausoni is supremely beautiful. For the first time I can remember in fifteen years of visiting this estate, the Fausoni is refined in its tannins. Sweet floral notes meld into a core of translucent fruit in an alluring, captivating Barbaresco that is super-impressive. The level of precision here is just magnificent. This is one of the best young Fausonis - if not the best - I have tasted at Sottimano.
Completely different from the Dolcetto, of course, but there is still a fine dark peppery dryness to this that gives it a family likeness. Sweet cherries, dried tomatoes, fragrant. Then a wonderfully dry, paper-fine texture. Nevertheless it is succulent and vital with great length.(JH)
